Bloomberg Law Update for Law Librarians
December 16, 2021
What’s New
Update to BNA’s Directory of State and Federal Courts, Judges and Clerks
We are pleased to announce that BNA’s Directory of State and Federal Courts, Judges and Clerks is currently being updated. A long-time favorite of Bloomberg Law subscribers, this directory has contact information for more than 2,100 state and territorial courts, more than 200 federal courts, and nearly 21,000 court personnel in the 50 states, District of Columbia, and U.S. territories.
The directory will be updated one section at a time over the next several months. Contact information for the appellate courts in the Federal Courts section has just been made current through October 2021, and that section is now available on Bloomberg Law. You can also find the directory on the Books & Treatises page or from the autocomplete in the Go Bar.
Measuring DEI
It’s never been more critical for law firms to demonstrate their commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). But actions speak louder than words. Standardized reporting of diversity-related data allows firms to attract and retain talent, and allows companies looking to procure legal services to easily compare law firms from a supplier diversity standpoint. It is not just a good thing to do — it impacts a firm’s bottom line.
For law firms that want to recruit or retain the brightest legal minds, DEI is essential. It also allows companies looking to procure legal services to easily compare law firms from a supplier diversity standpoint. Check out the inaugural 2021 Bloomberg Law DEI Framework for a listing of law firms that distinguish themselves in this space across six pillars: firm demographics, leadership and talent pipeline, recruitment and retention, business innovation and strategy, marketing, as well as diversity and inclusion in the community.
Bluebook Cites
An enhancement to the Copy with Citation feature that populates most federal and state court opinion citations into Bluebook format is now available.

BNA Archives
Pike & Fischer Radio Regulation Archive Available
The complete Pike & Fischer Radio Regulation, First Series is now available on Bloomberg Law. Published between 1948 and 1963, this collection was one of the first case reporting services in communications law. It consists of over 25 volumes of full-text decisions of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) as well as FCC reports, regulations, and a comprehensive digest of the service. This collection enhances the already extensive collection of FCC materials now available on Bloomberg Law.
The Radio Regulation archival collection is available in high-quality, fully-searchable PDF files on the Communications Law Practice Page on Bloomberg Law’s Tech & Telecom Practice Center. Users can browse case volumes individually through a drop-down menu on the archive page or search volumes individually or as a complete collection. We encourage you to visit and bookmark this new page.
Training & Help
Help Desk at Your Service
Most librarians know the Bloomberg Law Help Desk offers product, research, and end user technical support 24 hours per day, seven (7) days per week, all year long via telephone, email, and online chat. But did you know the team is staffed with knowledgeable and experienced legal and tax professionals, including attorneys and law librarians? In addition to JDs and MLS degrees, team members include holders of LLM degrees, particularly in specialized areas of the law, such as tax. The Help Desk contact information is located at the bottom of each page on Bloomberg Law.
Bloomberg Law Certification Gains Popularity
As 2nd semester approaches, many law school library faculty are gearing up for their teaching assignments. The Bloomberg Law Certification Program guides students through mastery of legal research and the resources available to them on Bloomberg Law. This page is the gateway to the certification platform.
